Josh is the General Manger at 95.3 the Range here in Dallas, a station I've been listening to since I moved to Texas 10+ years ago. We had an incredible time seeing all God did in the hearts and lives of those we met and shared with, along with our own hearts. God is good. We have an exciting photo opportunity to raise money for Josh's mission trip to Kajo Keji, Sudan. Josh, along with others from our church, leave April 29th to participate in church planting and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We thought taking family pictures would be a great way to raise support for this trip! This is not a regular photoshoot, rather we will only spend 10-15 minutes with each family, but we guarantee you two wonderful high resolution images/negatives with printing rights for your own personal use. Here are the details:

After we take your pictures, we'll give you a password and post your pictures on our website for you to take a look. Then you can donate any dollar amount to e3 partners on behalf of Josh. I know we've said this before, but we love taking pictures of teenagers and high school seniors! They pose just like you tell them, and even create their own 'look' for you that I'm sure has been practiced in the mirror many times before:-) Kassandra was no exception, we had a great time with her and our friend Ana, her big sister. Kassandra was looking for some traditional shots, but also wanted a rock-n-roll feel in some of the images. We think they turned out great! To all of our clients, thanks for your patience the last part of this Christmas and New Year's season as it's been quite hectic around the Cobbs house with the arrival of our newest baby girl - Sarah Jane. A few of her expressions the first few days of her life below... She's been so much fun! As a friend of mine told me the other day, "With 3 kids it's no longer man-to-man coverage, but zone defense!" How true! But, we now have three wonderful kiddos to parent and love...a true full house. God is good.

Amerson Family

We went out to this incredible field that Jenny and I found on the west side of Frisco (Texas) to shoot the Amersons. We've had the best of friendships with the Amerson's since we first met about a week after Jenny and I returned from our Honeymoon. We've done a little of everything with them - run a half marathon in Colorado Springs, gone skiing (water and snow) with each other's extended families, been boating, camping, college football games (our alma maters) in both Fayetteville and Auburn, and done more fish fry's than I can count. At this shoot we only had about 15 minutes to get everything in before the big strobe in the sky went away. There were tons of great photos, but I can't spoil their Christmas cards by showing all of them.

Because of this first shot I was going to title this post "New Moon." With the certain movie that's out right now, though, and since Greg only partly resembles Edward, I decided not to.

Will's Senior Pictures

Jenny and I love doing senior pictures. Seniors are up for anything. We took Will to downtown McKinney, Texas. We went to some of our favorite spots, but also went exploring and found new ones. We haven't heard him play, but knowing how musically talented his family is - I know he rocks the guitar! We were joking with his parents this week that we need to take a few of these shots and make him an album cover.

Also, below are some examples of the custom double-sided Christmas Cards we printed last year. They are 5x7 cards printed on pearl paper and they do include envelopes. If you'd like to print your own photos or cards, clients also have the option of obtaining 2 mid-resolution digital images with a minimum purchase of $200 in prints (see Josh's website).

So I've started a "365." A picture a day for one year. Mostly I'll try and use off camera flash for the pic of the day - at least at first because it's where I need the most work. But, as the year progresses I'm sure there will be a little of everything. The purpose, to try new things and push myself to create unique looks and do new things photographically. The images below are in reverse order Day 5 (Jenny - my beautiful pregnant wife), Day 4 (missed this day), Day 3 (pics a & b because the kids were too cute), Day 2 (Cooper-so-serious) and Day 1 (me in those cool sunglasses).

We took Madison's pictures in our home studio a week or two ago and I'm just getting them up on our blog! She was content as could be during her shoot. She loved a stuffed monkey chair we have for the kids and was just fascinated by it. Everytime we put her back in front of our lights, she would slowly start making a b-line toward the monkey chair. We think her pictures turned out adorable. Look at those eyes!

We're shooting Kent and Jennifer's wedding in July, so we went out for their engagement session in downtown Dallas a little over a week ago. We were so bummed that the Majestic theater's marquee was not lit up that night, especially since we had planned the shoot specifically on a night there was a show planned. BUT, I think we got some cool shots of Kent and Jennifer other places downtown. We had a blast! What a fun couple!

I don't know if we've ever had an easier photo shoot - teenagers are easy! :) We asked them to pose a certain way and they actually stayed in place and did it....sometimes with their own little improv which still made for some great pictures. We had a fun time laughing with the Smith family! These photos are last years Mother's Day present for a very sweet and deserving mom.

We made our first trip to the Arboretum in 2009 this weekend with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and our neighbors George and Courtney. I think spring fever has officially set in the Cobbs household. We've been hibernating all winter - so much so that I wore my Hawaiian shirt 2 weeks ago the minute it hit 60 degrees here in Dallas (though, it was right in between 2 days where it was in the 30's and 40's). But, as Jenny just pointed out, it was me that's been held up all Winter; she and the kids have been outside regularly on good days. Regardless, the kids loved being able to run around freely for the day with no worries of cars or concrete. Afterwards, we went to Chuy's for some of the best Mexican food in Texas. What would the world be if tacos or chips & salsa had never been invented? I snapped a couple pics before we went to eat...

Beautiful Bride

I had to post these beautiful images of MY bride. After 5 years of marriage, she is still stunning. And she still strikes a pose for me...when I ask nicely. I was able to attend an all day seminar in Dallas two weeks ago of one of the best wedding photographers in the world right now, Australian Jerry Ghionis. I learned so much about lighting - especially how to take the ordinary and turn it into extraordinary. These images below are straight out of the camera - taken in our master bedroom. The only exception is that I sharpened both of them for the web and turned the 2nd into a black&white image. Enjoy.

Don't let this shy face fool you, Madelyn is as spunky as any 3 year old. After her shoot this weekend, while Jenny and I were visiting with her parents in our living room, she and our son Cooper climbed on our bed in the other room with their riding toys (think tricycle with 4 wheels)... we knew something was going on with the amount of giggling coming from the master bedroom. When we all walked in on them, they each grinned from ear to ear. When we asked Madelyn in our "stern" parenting voice, "Whose idea was this?," we got an immediate response, "Cooper's!." lol

Caroline was my model last weekend as I was playing around with new lighting and background colors. She's not as stationary as her brother when Dad is taking her picture, but I love her smile. I didn't know how the red background and dress would go with her hair...as I know from experience that us red heads usually clash with red clothing, red cars, red furniture, red anything...but I think she pulled it off:-)

It was Jenny and I's first time out to the Tribute golf course in The Colony, TX. We got to have fun with the Cherry family on this old world Scottish links style course on Lake Lewisville. The sun made everything golden that day. What a a sweet family - we enjoyed working with them.

Christmas Cards

Here are a handful of our Christmas cards that we designed; however, we are also working with our friend Stacy Roseberry whose designs can be found at www.bumbleberryink.com

We print our 5x7 cards on "pearl" paper which has a soft shimmering texture. These cards are 2 sided! So, we can put another picture on the other side, a pattern, or a solid color. And, you can use them as postcards if you choose. Cost = $2.50/card

Cow Girl

We've seen Jessie grow up now. We've done her 3 month, 6 month, and now her 9 month pictures. She is the happiest baby - no doubt because of her wonderful parents. All the girls in her family always get their picture taken when they're almost one with only cowboy boots and their birthday suit. We think Jessie's turned out adorable!!

You wouldn't have known it was well over a hundred degrees later in the day that we took these pictures. We all got up early and Jenny and I took Cooper and Caroline with us on this shoot with the Turley's. We were at the park by 7:30 a.m. How we got us all there on time is amazing in itself... But, it was only in the mid-70's the whole shoot. It was perfect weather and perfect sunlight! Rarely do photographers get both in one session:-)

We went out around downtown Dallas and Highland park last weekend to do their engagement shots. We had a blast hanging out with them. After their shoot, we did a double date to Uncle Julio's - my first experience. It was a 9 out of 10 Mexican food experience!
